Last week we were honored to serve John Robbins, one of the pioneers of the vegan movement, at our restaurant on Kauai.
The only son of the founder of the Baskin-Robbins ice cream empire, John Robbins was groomed to follow in his father's footsteps, but chose to walk away from Baskin-Robbins and the immense wealth it represented to "...pursue the deeper American Dream...the dream of a society at peace with its conscience because it respects and lives in harmony with all life forms. A dream of a society that is truly healthy, practicing a wise and compassionate stewardship of a balanced ecosystem."
“I’ve had the pleasure of eating at many of the finest vegan and vegetarian restaurants. The Blossoming Lotus, in Kapa'a, Kauai, is among my very favorites. The food is superb, the ambiance is relaxing, and the overall dining experience is marvelous.”
--- John Robbins, author Diet For A New America, The Food Revolution, and Healthy At 100

Please come say aloha to Mark Reinfeld, Co author of Vegan World Fusion Cuisine who will be signing books on Saturday April 22nd at 3 pm at the Booklines booth at the Hawaiian Book and Music Festival.
The Hawai‘i Book & Music Festival celebrates books, reading and music in Hawai‘i, spotlighting a wide range of local, national and international authors and musicians, and offering an engaging opportunity for everyone to embrace the unique culture of Hawai‘i through the joy of reading and the appreciation of music. More importantly HBMF seeks to raise awareness of the serious issue of the high rate of illiteracy in Hawaii.
All proceeds from the event will go to improving literacy in Hawaii through donations to existing organizations with successful literacy programs. It is hoped that through this event, progress can be made in solving the illiteracy problem in our community.
