Yes, we are uniting our services under a single roof!
Blossoming Lotus Restaurant
to serve affordable meals all day long
To further serve the Kaua'i Community affordable, organic meals we are uniting our two locations and marrying the best of our services. We’ll keep all the favorite morning starters, fresh organic juices, smoothies, baked & live treats and grab & go options. Our current lunch menu will be expanded, along with seating, and our dinner menu will include our award-winning gourmet items, plus quick and low cost options. Both sit-down and take-out services will be available. In addition, we are launching our full-service catering packages, including wedding celebrations and wedding cakes.
The last day open at the Lotus Root was Sunday, September 14th, drawing to a close over 6 years of service from that location. We leave with many incredible memories and look forward to creating many more as we make this transition.
We plan to open all-day services at our Restaurant location in early October, marking our 4-year anniversary in the Dragon Building. Stay tuned for a send off celebration as we voyage makai (across the street) to merge with our Restaurant. We will continue to remain open for dinners 7 nights a week.
Our current vision is to honor the local community by tailoring our menu to provide everyday options for quick & healthy foods. We will continue to support our local organic farmers, artists and musicians by keeping the dollar circulating in our community, directly supporting one another & the collective vision of a Sustainable Kaua'i.

Masanobu Fukuoka, author of One-straw Revolution and The Natural Way of Farming , passed away on Saturday, August 16th at his home in Iyo, Japan at the age of 95. Mr. Fukuoka was one of the pioneers of no-till grain cultivation. His system is referred to as "natural farming", Fukuoka Farming, or the Fukuoka Method. He is one of the main reasons we have a robust organic movement today. He will be sorely missed.
His farming technique requires no machines, no chemicals and very little weeding. Mr. Fukuoka did not plow the soil or use prepared compost and yet the condition of the soil in his orchards and fields improved each year. His method creates no pollution, does not require fossil fuels and requires less labor than any other, yet the yields in his orchard and fields compare favorably with the most productive Japanese farms.
"He saw that nature was perfect just as it is. Problems arise when people try to improve upon nature and use nature strictly for human benefit. He tried to explain this understanding to others, but when they could not understand he made a decision to return to his family farm. He decided to create a concrete example of his understanding by applying it to agriculture."

Eagle
Eagle is a long time supporter of the Lotus and is working to create the first Ashtanga yoga temple on Kaua'i. He is the founder of Pineapple Yoga, which provides personal Ashtanga Yoga instruction classes for visitors to the Garden Island. As a top ranking professional athlete, mind/body educator and personal trainer, Eagle is an inspiration to his students and our community.
In 1992, after Eagle won the Junior World Racquetball Titles in singles and doubles, a reckless driver ran a traffic light and spun Eagle's vehicle and personal well being into turbulent chaos. Irreversible damage to Eagle's lower spine necessitated extensive surgery.
The doctors told Eagle that he would never play sports again.
Through inconceivable pain, emotional turmoil and insurmountable odds, Eagle regained his health through what he now refers to as FUSION, a tapestry of yoga postures, meditation, breathing, visualization, vegetarian lifestyle and affirmation exercises. In the spring of 1994 after nearly two years of intensive recovery, Eagle made an unprecedented comeback into the extremely physical world of professional racquetball. He quickly attained a position on the United States National Racquetball Team and ascended to be ranked as one of the top ten players in the world. The doctors were stunned by his remarkable recovery.
In 2001, Eagle retired from professional sports to devote himself to the study and teaching of the practices that made his recovery possible. Eagle embarked on an ambitious journey to seek out the preeminent living masters of the art and science of Yoga. This search led him to India, the birthplace of yoga, where he spent many years training under Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Rangaswamy at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute, Mysore, India. Eagle continues to practice annually in India, cultivating a teacher/student relationship that began several years ago. Eagle has been blessed by being authorized by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois to be an Instructor of this method of Ashtanga Yoga. He offers classes on Kaua'i in the traditional Mysore style.

We were honored to welcome Felix Schoner, the winner of our world-wide vegan recipe contest to the Garden Island of Kaua'i.
Felix and his girlfriend Sunita were treated to Aloha, Lotus style. They enjoyed meals at the Blossoming Lotus Restaurant and embarked upon a river kayak journey, waterfall hike, camping along the Napali trail, and many other adventures.This photo was taken outside of their hotel room on the ocean in Kapa'a.
It was a true pleasure to meet both Felix and Sunita and we wish them well in their travels!
